Addison Rae is courting controversy with her latest swimsuit snap.
On Tuesday, the 21-year-old TikTok sensation shared an Instagram photo of herself in Praying’s Holy Trinity Bikini ($100), the top of which is printed with “Father” on one side and “Son” on the other.
While the image only captured Rae’s top half, the bottom of the scandalous suit, which was created in collaboration with Adidas, reads “Holy Spirit.”
While the star’s famous friends gushed over the look — photographer Mark “The Cobrasnake” Hunter called it a “home run,” while singer Tate McRae wrote, “oh my god addision” — many commenters expressed their disapproval of the daring swim style in the comments.
“Nah this disrespectful to Jesus. Sad what y’all do for money,” one person wrote, while another pearl-clutcher added, “This is not okay! BLASPHEMY!”
“Is nobody gonna talk about this disrespecting religions,” a third wrote, while a fourth deemed the bikini “so messed up.”
Over the weekend, Christina Aguilera posed on Instagram in the French version of the two-piece — printed with “Père,” “Fils” and “Esprit Saint” — cheekily captioning her video, “A religious experience.” The pop star’s post didn’t draw the same criticism as Rae’s, however; perhaps things got lost in translation?
A favorite of young stars including Olivia Rodrigo, Halsey and Madison Beer in addition to Rae, Praying offers cheeky styles inspired by Y2K nostalgia; popular pieces include a crop top ($55) that labels its wearer “God’s Favorite” and a shoulder bag ($90) that commemorates Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s decade-long love.
Rae might be #blessed, but she’s had a rough few weeks following Page Six’s exclusive reveal that her 46-year-old father, Monty Lopez, allegedly “misled” a 25-year-old woman into a five-month affair.
Since then, the “He’s All That” star has canceled press appearances and said she’s been “struggling” to process the news.
